Wilma Howell, 72, of McComb, MS passed from this life on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.  She was born on January 8, 1950 and was the daughter of Hilton Bates and Bobbie Travis Bates Hofmister.

Before going to live at McComb Nursing and Rehab, she was very involved in the church. She loved singing in the church choir and would spend her spare time crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her father, Hilton Bates and her mother Bobbie Travis Bates Hofmister; stepfather, R.C. "Tip" Hofmister;   brother, Barnett Bates; nephew, Dwain Bates and sister, Inez Woods.

She is survived by her children,  Kevin Howell (Nikki) of Spring Branch, TX and Kathryn Howell of New Orleans, LA; four grandchildren, Taylor Howell, Austin Howell, Emma Howell and Kenzie Howell; one niece; four nephews, and a host of great nieces, great nephews , family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Hollywood Cemetery in McComb, MS.  Dr. David Millican will officiate.  Sharkey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
