Ms. Wilma E. Bates, 90, of Summit, MS, passed from this life on Sunday, August 4, 2019, at her residence in Summit, MS.  She was born on August 23, 1928, to Joseph Wilmer and Ezietta Gremillion Saizan, in Baton Rouge, LA. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church; worked for many years as a bank teller at Deposit Guaranty Bank; and enjoyed gardening, fishing, visiting and spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, C R Bates; and son, Robert Bates.

Survivors are her sons, Brent Bates of McComb, MS, and James McElveen of Summit, MS; sister, Yvonne Harrison of Baton Rouge, LA; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; niece, Irma Smith and husband Jerry; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 9, 2019, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in McComb, MS, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM with burial to follow in the Hollywood Cemetery in McComb, MS. Father Vijaya Manohar Reddy Thanugundla will be officiating the services with Catchings-Sharkey Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
