Dr. William E. Calvert, 74, passed from this life on Thursday, February 9, 2017, at SMRMC in McComb, MS. He was born on February 28, 1942, in McComb, MS, to G.D. Calvert and Mary Frances "Coot" Jones Calvert. He was of the Methodist faith, a retired Medical Physician at SMRMC, enjoyed hunting (but never got that elk) and was a disgruntled fisherman. He was a retired Physician of the Army after serving for 30 years during which time he was awarded three Bronze Stars, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and two Army Commendation Medals. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Paul Calvert. Survivors are his wife of 21 years, Sharon Froman Calvert; son, William E. "Cal" Calvert II and wife, Doris; mother-in-law, Marie Topper; grandchildren, Sean, Tristan, and Ethan Calvert; a close family friend, Lenora Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Memorial services for Dr. Calvert will be on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Catchings Funeral Home at 1 PM. Bro. Larry McEwen will be officiating the services with Catchings-Sharkey Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. A Family Gathering will be at Catchings Funeral Home (McComb) on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM.
