Rev. Vonque Boyd, 89, of McComb, passed away, Friday, August 4, 2017 at McComb Nursing and Rehab. He was born October 20, 1927 in Walthall County. He was the son of Victor P. and Johnnie Lee Wallace Boyd. He was a retired carpenter and a minister. He was an active member of McComb Gospel Assembly Church. Mr. Boyd loved the outdoors and loved working in his garden as long as his health allowed him to. He was very diligent in keeping his yard green and manicured. He loved his family, his church and his Lord. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 39 years, Rachel Stogner Boyd; daughter-in-law, Nola Faye Boyd; a grandson, Brian Chadwick Boyd; two sisters, Veta Nell Bates and husband, Hubert and Sharon Lee Boyd; stepson, Richard Voyt Brumfield and three brothers-in-law, Hershel Stogner, Russell Phillips and James T. Herring. He is survived by three sons, Billy Boyd of Jayess, Bobby Boyd and wife, Penny of McComb and Tommy Boyd and wife, Ann of Jayess; one daughter, Hazel Deskin and husband, Mike of Jayess; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy J. and Vera Boyd of Columbia and Rocky and Barbara Boyd of McComb; seven sisters, Charlene Gibson and husband, J.W. of Jayess, Helen Alexander and husband, L.T. of Summit, Mary Phillips, Alma J. Boyd and Voncille Williams of Jayess, Gracie Herring and husband, Robert of Three Rivers, TX and Annie Faye Reid and husband, Wayne of Pearl; sister-in-law, Ann Marjorie Herring of Bude; grandchildren and their spouses, Keith and Julie Boyd of Pricedale, Karen and Kevin Boyd of McComb, Stacy and Chris Battle of Jayess and Daniel Boyd of Jayess; great-grandchildren, Kayla Boyd England and husband, Andrew, Karli Boyd Riggs and husband, Brandon, Kalli Boyd, Zachary Boyd and wife, Payton, Justin Boyd, Derrick Battle and wife, Laura and Devin Battle; great-great-grandchildren, Payton Battle and Easton Battle; two step-daughters, Cynthia Nan Brumfield McNease of Lodi, CA and Shirley Irene Brumfield Parham of Sumrall; step-grandchildren, Jimbo McNease of Purvis, MS, Samantha McNease, Wesley Parham and Zachary Parham of Sumrall, MS; three step-great-grandsons and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff of McComb Nursing and Rehab and Compassus Hospice for the excellent and compassionate care of Mr. Boyd Visitation is Saturday from 5PM - 9PM at McComb Gospel Assembly Church, 1107 Hwy. 44 East, McComb, MS 39648 and Sunday from 11AM until services at 1PM with Rev. Bobby Boyd and Rev. Tommy Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Enon Cemetery under the direction of Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit.
