Obituary

Virginia Joyce Bennett Tucker, 78, of McComb, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018, at her residence. Mrs. Virginia was born in Gillsburg, MS, on February 3, 1940, to Merwin Frank (Sr.) and Aline Grant Bennett. She was a retired school teacher and dairy farmer. A member of Holmesville Baptist Church, she was active for years as a Sunday School teacher and church treasurer. She enjoyed working, traveling with her husband and spending time with her family. An early adopter of electronic technology for monitoring and managing dairy cattle, she shared her experiences with other farmers in the area and was recognized in 1999 with the Linnie B. Kizer award for service to the dairy industry. A master at word play, she instilled in her sons an enduring love for a really good pun.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Merwin Frank Bennett, Jr.; and granddaughter, Kassie Tucker.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jimmy Tucker; her sons, Bill (Linda), Keith (Christy), and Ken (Laura); grandchildren, Catelyn Page (David), Blake Leviner, Kacey Tucker, Amanda Stoll (Josh), Bryan Tucker, Karis Machado (Andre`), John Tucker, Stephen Tucker (Kailey), and Anna Tucker (Andrei Hogas); and a host of other family and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Virginia's caregivers, Brenda Taylor Leonard, Felecia McGaffney and Emma Porter and to the staff of Deaconess Hospice.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at Holmesville Baptist Church in McComb from 12 PM until services at 2 PM with Bro. Lee Mathis officiating. Burial will take place at Holmesville Cemetery.
