Obituary

Mrs. Velma "Faye" Rae Freeman Stockton, 90, of Summit, MS, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at her residence.

Mrs. Faye was born in Norfield, MS on February 23, 1930 and was the daughter of Charlie Freeman and Clotee Brown Freeman. She was an employee at Southwest Mississippi Community College for 30 plus years as a cook in the cafeteria. She loved people. She made many friends throughout her life. She loved to serve people and do for others. In her later years, she took up traveling and loved it. She enjoyed going to her children and grandchildren's sporting events and participated in Senior Olympics, winning multiple awards. She enjoyed going to music festivals big events. She was an outgoing person. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 28 years, William Morris Stockton; one son, Charlie Steve Stockton; two brothers, Charles Freeman and Millard Freeman and one sister, Glenda Sue Freeman.

She is survived by three sons, William Butch Stockton and Dawn of Slidell, LA, Carey Stockton and Jessie of Mandeville, LA and Dewayne Stockton and Dian of Madisonville, LA; one daughter, Lawanda Welch and Dickie of Ruth, MS; three sisters, Shirley Williams and Hylton of St. Amant, LA, Elouise Freeman of Magnolia, MS and Markel Temple and Harvey of Magnolia, MS; six grandchildren, Zachary Stockton, Kaitlyn Stockton, Savannah Redd and Levi, Amber Stockton, Gabriel Stockton and Pakie Ankerson and Wendi; four great-grandchildren, Elijah Redd, Annora Redd, Louise Ankerson and Camille Ankerson and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 11AM until time of service at 1PM at Sharkey Funeral Home with Bro. Cletus Moak and Bro. Robby Britt officiating. A burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Summit, MS.

Pallbearers will be Levi Redd, Gabriel Stockton, Zachary Stockton, Jason Temple, Chris Whatley and Danny Rushing.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Brandon Nursing and Rehab and Deaconess Hospice and Willamena Holmes.
