Funeral services for Thomas Lynn Travis will be on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Sharkey Funeral Home at 2 PM with graveside services to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Summit, MS. Bro. Jerome Bourn and Bro. Fred Cook will be officiating the services. Visitation will be at Sharkey Funeral Home, 1023 Old Brookhaven Road, Summit, MS 39666, on Friday, December 8, 2017, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Saturday, December 9, 2017, from 12:00 PM until the time of the service at 2:00 PM. Mr. Travis, 82, passed from this life on Monday, December 4, 2017. He was born on October 15, 1935, in Greensburg, LA, to Tom Travis and Lena Dillon Travis. He attended The First Church of the Nazarene in Magnolia, MS. He was a retired welder and enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a loving father, pappy, brother, and friend. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife of 20+ years, Katie Travis; his daughter, Sharon Simmons; his son, Brad "Shorty" Travis; his son-in-law, Gary Simpson; 4 brothers; and 1 sister. Survivors are his son, David Travis (Kathy); daughters, Kathy Simpson, Vicky Davis (Jeff), Stacey Childers (Randy), Irene Lang (Tommy), Linda Prescott (Todd); his sisters, Elizabeth Carlisle and Hulene Givens; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
