Tammy Theresa Payne Simmons, 63, of Magnolia, MS, passed from this life Sunday, July 31, 2022 at her residence.
Ms. Tammy was born in Los Angeles, CA on October 2, 1958 and was the daughter of Herman Ray Payne and Marilyn Jean Parker Payne. She was a hard worker and enjoyed her work in the construction field. She was known for her many accomplishments from Carpentry work, fiberglass work, and remodeling. She was a member of East Union Baptist Church in Magnolia where she was very active until her health failed. She loved the Lord and enjoyed reading her bible. She also had a heart for missions and was able to go on a mission's trip with the Nail Benders, which she was very proud of. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and boating. She was a true Tom Girl. She lived for her children and grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. There was an indescribable bond with her grandson, Bryson Brister, her "Hopskitter", that no one could understand except them two. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert Lee Simmons; her father and mother-in-law who took her in and raised her, Fred J. Simmons and Tommie Novle Durham Simmons. one brother, Michael Payne; one sister, Karen Payne; and one son-in-law, Shannon McKey, and two grandsons, Ivy Simmons; Tristen Simmons, and one sister-in-law, Peggy Simmons.
She is survived by her three daughters, Heather Reanee Ginn and Tony of Magnolia, MS, Terri Lynn Simmons of Magnolia, MS, and Leslie Dawn McKey of Bayou Sorrel, LA; two brothers, Kim Parker and Doris of Charlotte, NC, and Benny Payne of Charlotte, NC; one sister, Deborah Payne of Brookhaven, MS; sixteen grandchildren, Sergeant, Michael Simmons, Aleigha Stepter, Ruston Brister, Tyler Simmons, Alijah Simmons, Brody Brister, Alex Simmons, Alexis McCray, Bryson Brister, Kaleb Ginn, Cynthia Green and Max, Ashely Cutrer and Garrett, Joshua Ginn and Foxx, Lauren McKey, Toree Lloyd, Trenton Lloyd; nine great-grandchildren; a special person in her life she loved as her son, John Lloyd; one special sister-in-law, Martha "64" Simmons; one brother-in-law, Melvin "Snake" Patterson; two sister-in-law, Elaine Johnston and Dale, and Janie Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Tony Ginn, Justin Nowell, Max Green, Joshua Ginn, Chris Smith, and John Lloyd.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
A visitation will be held Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 5PM until 8PM and continue on Friday, August 5, 2022 from 12PM until time of service at 2PM at Sharkey Funeral Home with Bro. Brandon Lynch and Bro. Billy Morgan officiating. A burial will follow in the Durham Cemetery in Magnolia, MS.
