Obituary

Dianne Hart Johnson, 66, of Summit, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was born December 25, 1951 in Hobbs, New Mexico. She was the daughter of Morman Linzy Hart and Illa Thomas Williams.

Sister Johnson held a Master's Degree in Religious Administration and served as school administrator for Pine Grove Christian Academy in Summit. She began her educational career in 1981 where she began at the lowest level of teaching and worked her way to the administrative position she held. She was very devoted to her family and church and excelled in many areas including counseling for the young and elderly. One of her favorite things to do was sew, and she made all of her children's clothes when they were growing up. She was considered to be an awesome seamstress. She was a very creative person and was an excellent play writer for youth church programs. She always had a positive attitude and was known to her family as " the strength and rock for all". She was a champion of the underprivileged and treated all people equally.

She is preceded in death by her father and a grandson, Corbin Bergeron.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. R.H. Johnson of Summit; her mother, Illa Thomas Williams of Vidalia, LA; one son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Joshua and Laura Johnson of Summit; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jocelyn and Rev. Elliot Rutland of Jayess, Melody and Rev. Shelby White and Sharry and Loxie Bergeron, all of Summit; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Lidieth Hart of Ypsilanti, MI; one sister, Pam Byrd of Vidalia, LA; six grandchildren, Colby White, Clayton Bergeron, Caroline Rutland, Claire Rutland, Cruz Johnson and Ziva Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews and a loving church family.

Visitation is Friday at Pine Grove Pentecostal Church, 3085 Old Brookhaven Road, Summit, MS, from 5 PM until 9 PM and Saturday from 9 AM until services at 1 PM with Rev. Shelby White, Rev. Elliot Rutland, Rev. Joshua Johnson and Rev. Drew Ritchey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Rev. Colby White and Rev. Taylor Leggett officiating graveside services. Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers are Ronnie Reed, Hunter Perry, Will Jones, Nathan Kemp, Ryan Byrd and Stephen Pepper. Honorary pallbearers are Clay Bergeron, Cruz Johnson, Ashton Oliver, Michael Davis, Jr., Glen Roberts, Eddie Westmoreland, Brad Fuller, Garland Boyd and Walter Catoire.

The family requests memorials be sent to Pine Grove Pentecostal Church New Sanctuary Building Fund, 3085 Old Brookhaven Road, Summit, MS 39666.
