Shirley Pennington
Givens
November 2, 1943 – February 26, 2022
Mrs. Shirley Louise Pennington Givens, 78, of Magnolia, MS went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at her residence, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Shirley was born in Natchez, MS on November 2, 1943 and was the daughter of James Norvie Pennington and Mae Dunaway Pennington. She was a longtime member of Park Drive/First United Pentecostal Church of McComb where she loved her life living for the Lord. She began, Co-Owned and operated Star Drive-In in Magnolia along with her husband for over 20 years until she became disabled. It is there where she met many of her friends that she still kept in contact with throughout her time of illness. She loved to cook and was known for her many dishes that she made. She enjoyed decorating her home and making sure it was always spotless. She was such a people person who never met a stranger and would help those that were in need. On many occasions, she took food and supplies from the Drive-In to help others. She was a classy, Godly lady who represented God, the church and her family well. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Walter Givens, Sr. and Willie D. Givens; one brother, Sonny Pennington, one daughter-in-law, Donna Byrd Givens, and one brother-in-law, Burnell Smith.
She is survived by her loving, faithful husband of 61 years, Walter Collins Givens, Jr. of Magnolia, MS; two sons, Ricky Givens of McComb, MS, and Marty Givens and Sherilyn of Brookhaven, MS; one sister, Billie Smith of Brookhaven, MS; five grandchildren, Brandon Givens and Candice of Summit, MS, Miranda Pittenger and Michah of Colorado Spring, CO, Brittany Givens of McComb, MS, Logan Givens and Christina of Brookhaven, MS, Garrison Givens of Brookhaven, MS; three great-grandchildren, Madelynn Pittenger, Maelynn Pittenger, and Harper Givens, and two on the way, Maddox Pittenger, and Paislee Givens, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 12PM until time of service at 2PM at First United Pentecostal Church of McComb with Rev. Terry Ballard and Rev. Marty Givens officiating and Sharkey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. A burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her daughter-in-law, Sherilyn Givens and niece, Sheila Keene, as well as the staff of Hospice Compassus and Shannon Lander for their love and care throughout her illness, also, to Buster and Rachel Cooper for all the meals and visits.
