Ruth E. (Simmons) Weeks, 77, went home to be with the Lord after several months of a painful bout with pancreatic cancer. Upon graduating South Pike High School, Ruth briefly attended South West Mississippi Junior College before marrying her husband, Col. Leroy E. Weeks, M.D. Ruth was born in January 4, 1936, in Holmesville, MS to Louis Arthur Simmons Jr. and Lillie Pet (Fortenberry) Simmons. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and shared her faith with everyone. As a caring and loving friend, Ruth enjoyed traveling the world and the country visiting her friends and family. Ruth has left a legacy including: daughter: Sheila Midani and husband Mohamed, M.D. of Marietta, GA; son: Paul Weeks and wife Monica of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; grandchildren: Rashad Midani, Nadia Adams, Gaith Midani, Dena Midani, Aaron Weeks, Kathryn Pace, and Trey Weeks; and great-granddaughter: Khloe Pace; and brother James Everette Simmons. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Col. Leroy E. Weeks, M.D.; son: Arthur Simmons Weeks; and brother: Alton Ray Simmons. Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. Paul Weeks will officiate the services. Catchings Funeral Home (Summit location) is handling the arrangements.
