Obituary

Mrs. Rosa Elizabeth Freeman Sholter, 87, of McComb, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at her residence.

Mrs. Rosa was born in Pike County, MS on January 13, 1934 and was the daughter of William Thomas Freeman and Joseph Genoa Matthews Freeman. She was a member of The First Church of the Nazarene in McComb, MS for many years until it closed and she then joined First Nazarene of Magnolia, MS. She loved the church and loved her life serving the Lord. She raised her family in church and made sure her grandkids made it to church every Sunday morning. She enjoyed sewing and alterations. She loved her family and enjoyed every moment spent with them. She cared about people and was a very respectable lady. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her three husbands, Claude Holloway, Sr., Jerry "Buckey" Dunaway, and Charles "Charlie" Sholter; one daughter, Donna Gayle Holloway Purvis; two brothers, Joe Freeman and Johnnie Freeman; one sister, Helen Cutrer, and two sons-in-law, Bobby Esposito and Bill Fitzgerald.

She is survived by two sons, Claude Leonard "C.L. "Holloway, Jr. of Chalmette, LA, and William "Lloyd" Holloway and Elisha of McComb, MS; two daughters,  Claunette Holloway Esposito of Chalmette, LA and Shawna Dunaway Rosellini; two step-sons, Buckey Leon Dunaway of McComb, MS, and Ken Sholter and Donna; three step-daughters, Debra Dunaway Kemp of McComb, MS, Freda Hightower and Eddie of McComb, MS, and Wanda Fitzgerald; one sister, Georgia Freeman Boyd of Tylertown, MS, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, -great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Rankin, Randy Boyd, Retha Hale, Danny Hale, John Freeman, Trevor Hightower, and Michael Ford II.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 5PM until 7PM and continue on Friday, January 14, 2022 from 10AM until time of service at 12PM at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS with Rev. Gay Bosley and Rev. Michael N. Ford II officiating. A burial will follow in the Pike Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Due to the rise in Covid, and the CDC recommendations , the family requests that everyone wear masks and social distancing is observed.
