Reggie Middleton
Stevens
December 1, 1942 – August 15, 2024
Reggie Middleton Stevens, 81, of Summit, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024, at his residence. He was born Tuesday, December 1, 1942, to Joseph Edgar and Mayme Middleton Stevens, in Pike County, MS.
Reggie was known to be a good neighbor and a good friend. He always had a great story to tell. Reggie had many accomplishments and accolades but remained humble and giving. He reminded his family often of the verse, Mark 12:30-31 "and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. "The second is this, 'you shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." When asked how he wanted his life described he would reply, "Let me live in a house by the side of the road and be a friend to man". Reggie was a member of and had many loving friends at the Church of Christ at Johnson Grove.
Reggie was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Amanda Stevens McKay; his granddaughter, Faith Lynn McKay; his parents; and four brothers Gerald Stevens, Wayne Stevens, Jack Stevens, and Rayford Stevens.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife and best friend of forty-seven years, Diana Winfield Stevens. He is also survived by his daughters, Lisa Lee (Scotty) and Lauri Gammon (Ernie), eight grandchildren, Chelsea Fennell (Spencer), Philip Lee, Allison Gammon, Nicholas Gammon, Audrey Gammon, John Hammatt, Lindsey Hammatt, Tyler McKay; and one great-granddaughter, Emily Fennell, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
The family wishes to thank Reggie's hospice caregivers, Candy, Diane, Sydney, Corey, Wendy and Shannon, for their excellent care.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
