Mrs. Phyllis Jean Nimon, 87, of Summit, MS, passed from this life on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Liberty Community Living Center in Liberty, MS. She was born on January 22, 1932, in Sapulpa, OK, to Thomas W. and Sadie Blood Ridenour. She was a member of West McComb Baptist Church; worked for many years for the McComb School District as a bus driver and cafeteria worker; and enjoyed traveling, mission trips, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Othell Nimon; daughters, Nancy Forster and Tammy Albritton; sister, Anna Mae Simmons; brothers, Emmitt W. Ridenour and Richard D. Ridenour; and grandchildren, Shelia K. Thompson and Johnathan Ross Nimon.
Survivors are her children, Brenda Nimon Thompson of Calhoun, GA, John K. Nimon and wife Bessie of Smithdale, MS, and William Nimon and wife Marie of Calhoun, GA; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; son-in-laws Melvin Albritton and Scott Forster; special canine companion, Coco; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue at Sharkey Funeral Home on Monday, April 1, 2019, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in the Hollywood Cemetery in McComb, MS. Bro. Van Windom and Bro. James Sanders will be officiating the services with Catchings-Sharkey Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers are Austin Nimon, Lewis Albritton, Justin Walraven, William Nimon, J W Gill, and Gabe Allred. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Stokes, Seth Allred, John Nimon, Christopher Stokes, Kacen Nimon, and Hudson Nimon.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Liberty Community Living Center and the staff of PAM Wound Care Hospital in Hammond, LA. The family would also like to give a special thank you to Dr. Henry Lewis.
