Percy Orson Hill, 82, of Magnolia, MS passed away Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Camellia Estates. He was born on October 8, 1943, to E.E. Hill and Edna Hailey Hill.
He was a loving father and grandfather who had a deep love for all his family. He was an active and faithful member of East Union Baptist Church in Magnolia, MS.
He was a retired conductor with the Illinois Central Canadian National Railroad and a lifetime member of the United Transportation Union. He was also a Mason and proud member of Sincerity Lodge #214 in Magnolia, as well as a member of the Mississippi National Guard.
In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting railroad memorabilia, old bottles, and insulators. His love for his family, his faith, and the many interests he enjoyed throughout his life will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his wife Shirley of fifty-three and a half years, his parents, his sister, Mary Jane Wilson and his brother, James E. Hill.
He is survived by his two sons, Craig and his wife Paula Hill, Byron and his wife Vashta Hill; grandchildren, Kayla Hill, Zach Hill (Aspen), Hunter Hill (Rebecca), and Heidi West (Ty); special friend, Ms. Edna Robertson, as well as many cousins.
Pallbearers are Hunter Hill, Zach Hill, Darin Allen, Dink Massey, Don Price, and Mike Tauzin.
Honorary Pallbearers are Bill Goetzman, Charlie Price, Chip Corzine, David Braden, Gerard Bultman, Herman Middleton, Rat Taylor, and Ron Legrand.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Camellia Estates.
A visitation will be held at East Union Baptist Church on Monday, September 14, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Brandon Lynch officiating. A graveside service will immediately follow at East Union Baptist Church Cemetery with Sharkey Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
