Peggy Diane Smith, 82, of McComb, passed away on April 8, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Peggy was born on March 31, 1942 in McComb to parents Dorothy Boyt Smith and Raymond B. Smith, Jr. She was employed by Lott Furniture Company for several years, after which she served as secretary and bookkeeper for Maco Candy Company for over thirty years. She also co-owned a catering business with partner and friend Beth Henderson.

Peggy was a member of Navilla Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, reading and especially cooking. She was known for her delicious home-cooked meals and never minded sharing her recipes with others.  As her health and mobility declined, Peggy shifted her crafty nature to coloring and proudly created many beautiful pieces of art.

Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, her
husband of 61 years, M. Raymond Smith, special sister Dorothy Rae Farnum, and infant daughter Diane.

She is survived by her children Jason Smith and Julie Smith Sheppard (Tony); grandchildren Maddison Smith, Justin Hudson (Skye), Anna Sheppard and Katie Sheppard; great grandson, Grayson Adams; brother Jerry Smith (Mary Lou); sister Tracey Smith Shanklin; sisters-in-law Jeanette Mercier and Mary Dean, brother-in-law, Bubba Dean as well as a multitude of special nieces, nephews, friends and other extended family members.

Visitation will be held at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit on Thursday April 11, 2024. Bro. Trent Bilbo and Bro. Donald Lee Brown will officiate. Visitation will begin at 11:00 until memorial service at 1:00. A private burial will be held at a later date.
