Mellonee Simmons, 74 of McComb, MS passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023. She was born July 4, 1949 in Magnolia, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 9 A M until 11:00 A M. at Progress Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A M . Burial will follow in Progress Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Chad Yarborough will officiate. Sharkey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mellonee loved her family and was always thinking about the best interest of each one of them. She was very close to her daddy and mother caring for her mother in her later years. She had a caring and a giving heart toward her family and friends.
Mellonee was a very smart and talented person. She received her degree in elementary education and a master's degree from William Carey University. She taught kindergarten for 21 years at Tylertown Primary School. She loved the children she taught and was a very dedicated teacher.
Mellonee was a good wife, mother and grandmother who invested her life in the well being of her family. She loved shopping, eating out with family and visiting with her grandchildren. Making her grandchildren happy was her greatest priority and she always made sure they knew she loved them and was proud of them.
Mellonee will be greatly missed by her loving husband, her son, her grandchildren and all her family.
She was preceded in death by her father, John David (J D) Easley and mother, Kathleen Alford Easley.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Simmons of McComb, MS; sons, Chad Yarborough (Christy) of Brookhaven, MS and Anthony Simmons of New Orleans, LA; daughter, Sharon Webre (Louis) of New Orleans, LA; grandchildren, Caleb Yarborough, (Elleana), Caylee Grace Yarborough Davis (Zane) and Caden Yarborough; grandsons, Joseph Leshe, Mitch Leshe (Mary) and Luke Leshe; granddaughter, LeeAnne Pipkin (Brady); great granddaughters, Avah Mae Davis and Sadie Pipkin and brother, Darrell Easley (Carol).
Pallbearers will be: Chad Yarborough, Caleb Yarborough, Caden Yarborough, Zane Davis, Anthony Simmons, Andrew Alford.
