Maxie Leon Mullen, 88, of Summit, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024 at his residence. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024 at 12:00 pm at Sharkey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Enon Cemetery in Jayess, Mississippi. Rev. Danny Smith will officiate the services.
Max was born on March 25, 1936 and raised in Summit. He served his nation faithfully as a member of the United States Navy, where he spent ten years on nuclear submarines. His family describes him as a quiet man but a very comical man! Max was a devoted Husband and Father but also loved his Grandchildren deeply. After retirement, raising his Grandchildren became Max's full-time job. He spent so much time pouring into each of their lives and making a life changing impact.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Leon & Trudia Reid Mullen; one Brother, Joe Mullen; two Sisters, Marjorie Smith and Myrtle Alexander; two Brothers-in-law, Ray Smith and Roy Toepfer; two Nephews Jason Mullen and Shane Ashley.
He is survived by his Wife of sixty-three years, Wendy Andrews Mullen, of Summit; his Son, Chris A. Mullen, of Summit; his two Daughters, Denise L. Keith, of Augusta, Georgia, Kim M. Bankston (Randy), of Watson, Louisiana; one Foster Daughter, Donna Frazier, of Amite, Louisiana; nine Grandchildren, Ashlyne Mullen, Caila Campos, Adrienne Langlinais, Darien Campos, Shane Bankston, Maxim Bankston, Denver Bankston, Lona Jackson, Maxie Mullen, II; a number of Great Grandchildren; two Brothers-in-law, L.W. Alexander and Frank Frazier; two Sisters-in-law, Sherry Mullen and Brenda Toepfer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Randy Bankston, Shane Bankston, Maxim Bankston, Denver Bankston, Maxie Mullen, II and Jeremy Langlinais.
