Matthew "Matt" Derrick Mason was born in McComb, MS on April 21, 1971 and passed away February 29, 2024 at UMC in Jackson MS with his family by his side.

Matt was the son of the late Willie B. Mason and Brenda Boyd Mason. He was a caring and loving husband. Matt was a proud father and "Grump" to his grandchildren. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and loved all things sports. Matt enjoyed playing softball and baseball. He loved music and his work he did with technology. He was always quick with smart remarks, funny movie quotes, and could tell you plenty of stories from all the places he had either lived or seen growing up.

He is preceded in death by his father, Willie B. Mason and both maternal and paternal grandparents.

He is survived by his loving wife, Shari Mason, mother, Brenda Mason, sisters, Bonnie (Stan) Leffel and Tracy (Jamie) Allen, one son, Catch Mason, one daughter, Tera (Joseph) King, and two grandchildren McKenna and Asher King, along with nieces and nephews and many more loving family and friends.

A visitation will be held at Sharkey Funeral Home  in Summit  MS, beginning at 5:00 P M Monday, March 4, 2024. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A M Tuesday, March 5, 2024 with visitation starting at 10:00 A M. Bro. Rick Kennedy officiating.
