Mary Sammy
Mcguire
December 16, 1922 – July 25, 2023
Mary "Sammy" McGuire
Sammy McGuire was born in 1922 in Koblenz, Germany, and passed away on July 25, 2023, in McComb, Mississippi.
Sammy was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Alma Rushing, her husband Thomas C. McGuire, her brother Hans Heiduk, and her sister Hedi Felder. She is survived by her daughter Susan McGuire of Mobile, AL and by her sister Ann Rushing McDaniel of Gautier, MS.
Sammy was well known for her love of cooking and was the creator and owner of The Sunny South Tea Room for many years. At 88 years young, she decided that she wanted to build a smaller little dream house, so she found a lot, drew up plans, and hired a builder. She enjoyed her home, gardening, cooking, and feeding stray cats until the age of 99 when she moved to Ashton Court where she resided until her death.
God blessed Sammy with many gifts which she shared with her family and close friends. Living through the Greatest Generation of World War II, she believed that everything had a use. She loved her country, family, and friends. During each life challenge, whether it was hers or that of family or close friends, she never gave up and was strong in her positive belief and youthful Spirit.
My mother, my best friend, rest in peace.
