Martin Philip Brown, 88, of Summit, passed away, Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.

He was born June 19, 1930 in Norfield, MS. He was the son of Martin and Bertie McClelland Brown.

He was a member of New Heights Baptist Church . He retired as hospital administrator for the IC Railroad Hospital in Chicago, IL. And later retired from Hamilton County Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro, IL. Phil was a member of the Summit Rotary Club while residing in Summit. Those who knew him remember Phil as an avid gun enthusiast.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Page Brown; a son, Louis Brown; a grandson, Bradley David Brown; a brother and his wife, Wayne and Annie Brown and a brother-in-law, Dr. Richard O. Bellew.

Phil is survived by his wife of 15 years, Penny Mancuso Brown of Summit; two sons, Burt Brown of McLeansboro, IL and David Brown and wife, Pamela S. Brown of Bethalto, IL; a daughter, Mary Shahan and husband, Carl of Oswego, IL ; his sister, Nancy Brown Bellew of Salley, SC; four grandchildren, Steve Brown and wife, Felica of Dale, IL. Billy Brown of Atlanta, GA., Shaun Shahan of Oswego and Dr. Jennifer Brown of New York; numerous great-grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

Visitation is Thursday at New Heights Baptist Church from 1:00 P M until Celebration of Life Service at 3:00 P M with Rev. Rick Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Moaks Creek Cemetery under the direction Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit.
