Mrs. Martha Sue Alexander, 78, of Jayess, MS, passed from this life on January, 19, 2021 at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born on November 22, 1942 in Marion County to Mr. Wilton Blackwell and Mrs. Ruby Brown Blackwell.

She was a longtime and faithful member of Enon Baptist Church. She enjoyed being a housewife and mother. Her dedication to love of family was reflected in her home every day. She loved to care for her flower gardens and prepare meals for her family every day without exception. She also loved and cared for her pet cats that she called her babies. She had a tremendous love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilton and Ruby Blackwell and brother, Ray Blackwell.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Vernon Alexander; daughter Tammie Rogers (Buzzy) of Summit, MS; sons, Mike Alexander (Lisa) of McComb, MS and Kenny Alexander (Beverly) of Jayess, MS; six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She also had three very close friends, Frankie Phelps, Lavoyce Greer, and Pearl Boyd.

Pallbearers are Buzzy Rogers, Brent McMillian, Jordan Adams, John Alexander, Kenny Alexander and Mike Alexander.

Honorary pallbearers are Dustin Beck and Derwin Cothern.

Funeral services for Mrs. Alexander will be on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS at 2:00 PM with burial to follow in the Enon Cemetery in Enon, MS. Rev. Mike Alexander and Rev John Alexander will be officiating the services, with Sharkey Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at Sharkey Funeral Home on Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 1:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM.

The family request memorials be made in her name to St. Luke Hospice Care.
