Marion Raymond Smith, 81, of McComb, MS passed peacefully from this life on Friday, April 14, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on February 21, 1942 in McComb, MS to Elijah Jason "E.J." and Gladys Deer Smith.

Raymond loved spending time with his family and particularly loved his role as "PawPaw." He greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing his entire life and was a well-known outdoorsman in the Pike County area. After retirement from Weyerhaeuser, he could often be found at the local coffee shop visiting with friends.

Raymond fought through many medical hardships over the past two years. As difficult as this was for him, he was always happy to see his loved ones and greeted them with a smile and a wave.

He is preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter Diane.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Peggy Diane Smith; daughter Julie Sheppard (Tony) and son Jason Smith; sisters Jeanette Mercier and Mary Dean (Bubba); grandchildren Maddison Smith, Justin Hudson and Katie Sheppard; great grandchild Grayson Adams; and numerous close family members and lifelong friends.

A visitation will be held at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS on Tuesday April 18, 2023 beginning at 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m.
