March 8, 1946 – April 17, 2024
Marilyn E. Stutzman passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024. Marilyn was born and lived in Centreville, MS, until later in life when she became a longtime resident of Pike County. Marilyn lived a life surrounded by her family and many friends. She was a servant of her church, Johnston Chapel United Methodist, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and preparing meals. Marilyn's greatest joy was her grandchildren. She never missed a sporting event they were participating in. She could be heard in the stands yelling, "that's my grandson," and she loved attending cheer camp to watch her granddaughter compete. Marilyn was one of the best cooks and was known for telling people, "If you can read, you can cook"!
She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Stutzman; mother, Agnes McKey Stutzman; brothers Frank, Ike, and Joe (her twin) Stutzman and one beloved sister, Lena Olivia Padgett. One grandson, Seth Zion, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by the love of her life, Robert E Walker; one daughter, Tara Walker Smith (Preston); stepdaughter, Koni Walker; three grandsons, Robert Smith, Travis Smith (Megan), Colt Rogers (Rachel); two granddaughters, Kayla Smith Joiner (Dillion) and Prestley Smith Vaughan (Bailey); three great-grandsons, Tagen and Myles Smith, and Seth Rogers, and one great-granddaughter, Dani Rogers.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Sunday, April 21, 2024, with visitation beginning at 1pm at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Centreville, MS. Rev. Dave Steveline and Rev. Dwayne Scroggins will officiate the service.
Pallbearers will be Travis Smith, Robert Smith, Bailey Vaughan, Dr. Dillion Joiner, Colt Rogers, and Dean Padgett. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Stutzman, Chad Stutzman and Preston Smith.
