Obituary

Marilyn W. Brady, 90, a resident of McComb, passed away Friday, October 20, 2017 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. She was born February 6, 1927 in Pike County. She was the daughter of Julius E. and Mary Ethel Felder White. She graduated from McComb High School in 1945 and from Mississippi State College for Women in 1949 with a major in music. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota musical fraternity. She began her teaching career in Magnolia and after a year taught in the McComb Public School system for 29 years. She then gave private lessons in "The Music Room" at her home. She had many outstanding, and also ordinary, students of whom she was very proud. She loved each of them and they loved her back. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in McComb where she was the organist for 25 years, and still played the piano for the Senior Adult Sunday School Department. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of several local bridge clubs. She was a charter member of the Parnassus Club and the Twenty One Club and a member of the Cresite Club and the DAR. She held several offices, including president, in each of these clubs and developed many friendships through these clubs. She was a loving wife to her husband, Phillip Brady, and supported his love of radio, HAM radio, flying and politics. They enjoyed traveling in his plane through the United States and taking friends and family with them. Two of the joys in this world were her sons, Don and John, who described her as loving, kind, patient and blessed, and proud to call her Mother. All who knew Mrs. Brady loved her. She was a true southern lady, full of grace and poise. Mrs. Brady is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Don, her brother, Julian White, and nephew, Sonny White. She is survived by her son, John Brady: two granddaughters, Brittany Brady and Brooke Brady; nephew Eddie White (Paula), a special niece, Rebecca White and several other family members. Visitation is Thursday, October 26, 2017 at First Baptist Church in McComb from 12noon until services at 3PM with Dr. Woody Rimes and Rev. Eddie White officiating. Burial will be in Hollywood cemetery under the direction of Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit. Pallbearers are Jim Dykes, Jimmy White, Josh White, Randy White, Art Fesmire and Butch Williams.
