Mary Margarete Laird Wicker, 90, of Summit, passed away, Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. Mrs. Wicker was born August 10, 1927 in Franklin County . She was the daughter of Hollis Erasmus and Rosa Temple Laird. She was a dedicated Christian and longtime, active member of Tangipahoa Baptist Church where she enjoyed fellowship with her "Mary's" Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. Mrs. Wicker, a homemaker, loved cooking for her family. She was happiest when spending time working in her flower garden and being outdoors sitting in her swing with a good cup of coffee. She was loved and adored by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be greatly missed by them. She is preceded in death by her husband William Wicker; two infant granddaughters, Casey James and Kayla Wicker; a son-in-law, William "Bill" James, II; one sister and brother-in-law, Wessie and Ottis Cothren and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Alton and Bernette Laird and Woodrow and Lena Laird. She is survived by her five children: Ginger Wicker Earnhart and husband, Bobby; Janice Wicker Lee and husband, Olin; Ralph Wicker; Ruth Wicker James; and Kay Wicker Leone. Mrs. Wicker was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members. Visitation is Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Tangipahoa Baptist Church 7550 Thompson Road, Summit, MS 39666from 10AM until services at 12PM with Bro. Mike Morris officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Baptist Church cemetery in Smithdale under the direction of Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit. Pallbearers are Bo Lee, Mac Lee, Seth James, Hayden Gibbons, Cooper Allan, Steven Melton and Matthew Barnett. Honorary pallbearers are Daniel Leone, Christian Leone, Bobby Earnhart, Olin Lee, David Gibbons and David Allan.
