Lorraine Powell Rimes, 87, of Progress, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Liberty Community Living Center.She was born November 5, 1930 in Amite County. She was the daughter of Aubrey and Bernice Cook Powell. She was a longtime member of Progress Baptist Church. She worked many years with Movie Star in Magnolia and was an Avon sales representative for numerous years. Mrs. Lorraine loved the outdoors, especially working in her yard and working with her husband on the dairy farm and nursery. She loved to travel and enjoyed taking trips with her family traveling throughout the United States.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil Tanet Rimes, Sr.; one son, Cecil Tanet Rimes, Jr.; one daughter, Barbara Ann Burton and one sister, Elaine Anderson.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Aubrey and Sharon Rimes of Progress; one sister, Wessie Pevey of Fernwood; four grandchildren, Johnny Rimes, Samone Rimes, Patrick Rimes and wife, Haley and Robyn Felder; five great-grandchildren;; a very special friend, Patricia McNeil of Liberty and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation is Tuesday at Sharkey Funeral Home, 1023 Old Brookhaven Road, Summit, MS 39666 from 5PM until 8PM and continues Wednesday at Progress Baptist Church, 1010 Progress Church Road, McComb, MS 39648 from 10AM until services at 11AM with Bro. Alton Foster officiating. Burial will be in Progress Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Brumfield, Jamie Harrell, Chuck Rimes, Patrick Rimes, Joe Wilson and William Haygood.Memorials may be sent to Progress Cemetery Fund, 1010 Progress Church Road, McComb, MS 39648.
