Laverne Martin Lawrence, 87, of Fernwood, passed away, Tuesday, October 30, 2018. She was born June 23, 1931 in Bunker Hill, MS to Mr. Tillie Martin and Mrs. Irene Brumfield Holmes. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in McComb, MS. She dedicated her life to the Lord as a young lady and kept that devotion the remainder of her life. She loved her church and especially loved her involvement in Bible Study. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Tillie Martin and Irene Brumfield Holmes; husband, J.W. Lawrence, Jr.; sister Myra Lee Thornhill and brother Howard Martin.

She is survived by daughter, Nell Lawrence Godbold and husband "Buddy" of Caseyville; sons, James Lawrence and wife Margie of Magnolia, MS, Eddie Lawrence and wife Shirley of Summit, Ms; grandchildren, Melinda Godbold Bowers and husband Eric of Madison, MS, Brittney and Blake Lawrence of Summit, MS and great-grandson, Brody Bowers of Madison, MS along with a host of family and friends.

Visitation is at First Assembly of God Church in McComb, MS, Friday, November 2, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and resume Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 1:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM. Rev. Jim Dalton and Bro. James Lawrence will be officiating with Sharkey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in The Calvary Baptist Cemetery at Pricedale, MS.
