Obituary

Katie G. Welch, 90, of McComb, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Aston Court Retirement Community. She was born May 11, 1927in Copiah County. She was the daughter of James M. and Alma Middleton Granger. She was a homemaker that enjoyed cooking, yard work and doing for others. She was a loving wife of 56 years to Henry Edward Welch, whom she missed every day following his death in 1998. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, and numerous siblings. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Edward Welch and Linda VanNorman Welch of McComb and Ronald Harold Welch and Janet Forman Welch of Magnolia; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda Gail Welch Holmes and Billy Holmes of Slidell, LA; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Randy Holmes and Michelle, Ron Holmes and Natalie, Robin Holmes, Kimberly Welch-Dick and Ken, Jennifer Welch Richmond and Allen, Veronica Welch Wilson and Matthew, Kristy Welch Warren and Danny, Drew Welch and Jeri and Ben Welch and Kristin; eighteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jenny Cole, Kelly Gentry, Freddie Butler and the entire staff at Aston Court and the staff of Camellia Hospice for the thoughtful and loving care that was given to Mrs. Welch. Visitation is Tuesday at Sharkey Funeral Home, 1023 Old Brookhaven Road, Summit, MS 39666 from 9:30AM until services at 1:00PM with Dr. David Millican officiating. Burial will be in Hollywood cemetery. Pallbearers are Randy Holmes, Drew Welch, Danny Warren, Allen Richmond and Christian Welch-Dick.
