Katherine Holiday Strickland, 82, a resident of Osyka, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, LA.
She was born October 17, 1936 in Mt. Hermon, LA. She was the daughter of Ponder and Freda Claybough Holiday.She was retired from Kentwood Co-Op with 25 years of service. She was a longtime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was very active in the Ladies Ministry, even during her failing health. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Walter T. Ott Chapter 217, Spring Creek, LA where she served as a past Worthy Matron.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, James Holiday, Jr.; one sister, Edna Earl McCain; two stepsons, Eddie Earl Strickland and Bobby Darren Strickland.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Eddie L. Strickland of Osyka; two daughters and sons-in-law, Terri McElveen Easley and Donnie of Easleyville and Ramona and Daniel York of Roseland; two sisters, Bettye Lou Smith and husband, Claude of Hammond and Linda Faye Welch of Kentwood; a step-daughter, Deborah Strickland of Magnolia; two step-sons, Ronnie Strickland and Tommy Strickland of Kentwood; three grandsons, Trey Easley, Dustin Easley and Austin York; eight step-grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 2151 Mt. Zion Road, Osyka, MS 39657 from 12 PM until Celebration of Life Services at 2 PM with Bro. Donnie Easley and Bro. Richie Fortenberry officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS.Pallbearers are Trey Easley, Dustin Easley, Daniel York, Austin York, Ronnie Smith, Kenny Velen and Skipper Crawford. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Braud, Mike Thomas, Ronnie Strickland and Tommy Strickland.
