John W. Gibson, 89, of Jayess, MS, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS.He was born April, 5, 1929, in Jones County, MS, to William Amos and Elizabeth Blackledge Gibson.Mr. Gibson loved traveling with his wife (road runners), working outside, taking care of his yard and automobiles and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, William Arthur Gibson; a daughter, Judy Lewis; a brother, David Gibson; and a sister, Lucille Dunaway.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene Gibson of Jayess; two sons, John Gibson and wife Melanie of Byram, MS and Ricky Gibson and wife Frances of Longview, TX; three daughters, Elsie Mason of Clinton, MS, Shirley Stewart of Pearl, MS and Cathy Wicks and husband Dwayne of Biloxi, MS.; a brother, Leroy Gibson of Florida; a sister, Sarah Sandifer of Florida; 12 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and numerous great great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Sharkey Funeral Home, 1023 Old Brookhaven Rd., Summit, MS 39666 from 5PM until Memorial Services at 6PM with Ricky Gibson officiating. Private Interment at a later date.
