Mr. Jerry Knighton, 72, of Osyka, MS, passed from this life on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Southwest MS Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was born on February 17, 1951 in Corinth, MS, to Vancy Knighton and Lillian Smith Knighton.

Jerry was a faithful member of New Heights Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed attending Ole Miss football games with his wife and supporting his Rebels any way that he could. He was an avid golfer, which allowed him to spend time with some of his special friends. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and one brother, Jackie Knighton.

Survivors are his wife of 49 years, Sandra Shults Knighton; two daughters, Amy Avent (Brad) and Amanda Lawson (Michael); one brother, Jimmy Knighton of Corinth, MS; two brothers-in-law, Wayne Shults (Karen) and James Shults; one sister-in-law, Janie Lambert; five grandchildren, Ayla, Marley, and Lewis Avent, Leighton and Lillian Lawson; and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers are Lee Dunnam, Jerry Moore, Ash Riad, Matt Smith, Shelton Davis, and Richard Williams.

Honorary pallbearers are Glen Polk, Glenn Gatlin, Renan Richmond, Mac Bezet, and Norman Price.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at New Heights Baptist Church in Summit, MS, beginning at 10AM until time of service at 1PM. Bro. Randy Burdeaux and Bro. Rick Kennedy will officiate with Sharkey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
