Mr. Jerry Wayne Holmes, 71, of Magnolia, MS, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Southwest Mississippi Cardiovascular Unit in McComb, MS.
Mr. Jerry was born in Magnolia, MS on February 25, 1949 and was the son of Charles Holmes and Willie Mae Morris Phelps. He was a Godly, Christian man and served the Lord all of his life. Through his life, he was a truck driver and then an auctioneer and loved what he did. He was very outgoing and had many friends. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He was a family man and cherished each moment spent with them. He also loved music and played guitar. He spoiled his precious wife and made sure she wanted for nothing. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Linda Kay Phelps and two brothers, Charles Ray Holmes and Charles Hanceford Holmes.
He is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 33 years, Virginia "Jenny" Holmes of Magnolia, MS; two daughters, Angela Holmes and Randy of Tylertown, MS and Cathy Holmes Pace and Mitchell of Foxworth, MS; two sons, Jay Cook and Janell of Cassville, PA and Joe Cook and Mandy of Three Springs, PA; three brothers, Johnny Holmes, Jimmy Ray Phelps and Denise, and Hank Holmes and Tammy; four sisters, Zelita Lambert and Hugh, Patsy Phelps and Billy Ray, Betty Jo Fair and Adrian, and Stacey Thornton; fourteen grandchildren, Nicholas, Ethan, Sara, Jamie, Jackson, Jenna, Tristan, Michael, Alex, Emma, Victoria, Ryan, Evan and Alee and a host of additional brothers and sisters, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Wendell "Little Man" Thornton II, Jacob Phelps, Robert Mann, Wayne Merrick, Robbie Mann and David Huff. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Hannah, Brad Whichstine, Louis Ougel and Harold Alford.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 5PM until 9PM and continue on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 9AM until time of service at 11AM at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS with Bro. Dennis Walker, Bro. Lonnie Case and Bro. Jeff Phelps officiating. A burial will follow in the Magnolia Cemetery.
Due to Covid-19 and the CDC restrictions, the family requests that social distancing is observed and masks are worn.
