James "Jimmy"
Webb
December 8, 1952 – January 11, 2024
James "Jimmy" Webb, 71 of McComb, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024 at his residence. He was born Monday, December 8, 1952 in McComb.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Holmesville Baptist Church in McComb. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at 4:00 pm at Holmesville Baptist Church. Rev. Darryl Bone and Rev. Lee Mathis will officiate the services.
As a lifelong resident of McComb, Jimmy was known as a "Jack of all trades." He built many beautiful homes in McComb and the surrounding areas. As long as he was able to contribute to the community, he always did. He did the first big renovation to the Boys & Girls Club for his friend Randy Tate, he did the kitchen at St. Andrew's Mission Activity Center, he was an accomplished artist and fabricated the Bo Diddley sculpture that's in downtown McComb, and he helped build the Bo Diddley pavilion downtown for outdoor events. After his disability, he went back to get an Associate's Degree from Southwest Mississippi Community College. Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, bulldozing and moving dirt, then went back to look for arrowheads! After his accident & spinal cord injury, he used his bobcat to do things to help people & contribute to other projects. He was a member of Holmesville Baptist Church, and loved his family very deeply. He was a partner in the family business, JVW Holdings. Jimmy was able to have a special relationship with his son, Whitney, and they worked together for years. It was more than just a father/son relationship…they were friends.
He was preceded in death by his Brother, Donald Webb. Father-in-law, Ed McCalip, & Mother-in-law, Dot McCalip.
Survivors include his Wife of almost 52 years, Vickie McCalip Webb, of McComb; his Son, Whitney Webb, of McComb; his Parents, James E. & Bonnie Bass Webb, of Brandon; three Sisters, Joan Waller (Jim), of Magnolia, Becky Williams (Dennis), of Orlando, Florida, Angela Webb, of Brandon; Uncle & Aunt, Phil & Lee Dell'Isola, of Summit; one Brother-in-law, Eddie McCalip, of McComb; and a number of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Other Family Members along with many friends.
The family asks that any memorial donations be made to McComb Main Street Assn (P.O. Box 1484, McComb 39649) for their museum project or to St Andrew's Mission for the Homeless.
