Mr. James Buford Golmon, 86, of Smithdale, MS passed from this life on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jackson, LA. He was born on August 23, 1936 in Franklin County, MS, to Elva and Nora Golmon.

He was a lifelong member and deacon at Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was a quiet, simple, hardworking man. Raising vegetables was not only something he enjoyed, but it provided for his family and community. He retired from International Paper Company after 44 years. After retirement he enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters, Barbara Storm (Fred) and Sarah Townsend (Charles); and one brother, Wilton Golmon; one brother-in-law, Buddy Oliver; two grandsons, Curtis Smith and Josh Golmon.

Survivors are his wife, Anna Dean Golmon; two daughters, Renae Williams (Jim) and Ann Sharp (Eldridge); one son, Mark Golmon (Anita); one brother-in-law, Terry Oliver (Pat); three sisters-in-law, Charlotte Golmon, Dodie Oliver, and Janice Hollis (Larry); six grandchildren, Michelle Leblanc, Bridgette Smith, Jacob Golmon (Chelsea), Morgan Golmon, Logan Sharp, and Tanner Sharp; eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Pallbearers are Jacob Golmon, Morgan Golmon, Logan Sharp, Tanner Sharp, James Westbrook, and Lamar McKenzie.

Honorary pallbearers are Eldridge Sharp and Jim Williams.

A visitation will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS, beginning at 9AM until time of service at 10AM. A graveside service will immediately follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Smithdale, MS with Rev. Lonnie Case officiating.
