Obituary

Jack Denson Hammack went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 30, 2017 in Ruston, LA after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on March 12, 1931.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Christine Byrd Hammack and one grandchild.

He is survived by three daughters, Deborah Seal and husband Loy of Ruston, LA; Brenda Fortune of Hattiesburg, MS; and Becky McLendon and husband O.T. of Brooklyn, MS; a sister, Bess Douglas of Hattiesburg, MS; eight grandchildren; six great- grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Jack graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi after serving in the U.S. Army. He served as a salesmen for Dixie Bearings, Motion Industries and Llewellyn Industries before launching several lubrication related companies. He and his partners received a patent for Compressshield in 1995 and later sold the product and patent to Energy Savings L.P. in Memphis, TN. He was an avid supporter of the University of Southern Mississippi sports teams, holding season tickets in football and basketball for many years. He owned Mississippi Gem Center for several years and was a certified gemologist. He also volunteered many hours with the Mississippi Ataxia Association. He was a member of Hardy Street Baptist Church and the American Legion.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 3 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Summit, MS under the direction of Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit. Visitation will be held graveside from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM. Share condolences at catchingsfuneralhome.com
