Irma Austin
Cupit
November 25, 1944 – October 3, 2021
Mrs. Irma Austin Cupit, 76, of Magnolia, MS, formally of Baton Rouge, LA, passed from this life on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at her residence, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born in Baton Rouge, LA on November 25, 1944 to Merle and Irma Bueto Austin. She was a member of magnolia United Methodist Church. She was retired from a career in various Insurance Agencies. She was known to many as "Aunt Irma". She enjoyed traveling and playing dominoes with her beloved husband, Bobby, and often took trips with her three sisters. Reading, listening to music, and cheering on the Saints and her LSU Tigers, were some of her many past times. Aunt Irma was all about spending time with her nieces and nephews and was often ready with an encouraging word… or correction. Rarely without a smile, Aunt Irma loved to laugh. Simply, she just enjoyed life.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobby Cupit; two sisters, Gayle Austin Warner and Lina Austin Bryant, and a special niece, Martha Gayle Warner.
She is survived by her step-daughter, Ashley Andrews (Billy) and grandson, Austin Andrews of Denham Springs, LA; one sister, Madoline Austin Ellison of Magnolia, MS; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Warner; one sister-in-law, Ann Hoyt, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Austin Andrews, Billy Andrews, John Bryant, Clifton Warner, Chris Ellison, and Nick Rosse.
The family would like to thank Dr. Luke Lampton and the staff of Compassus Hospice, and a special thanks to Shannon, Julie, Aretha, Rexanne, Cory, and Betty. You were all truly our ministering angels.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 9AM until time of service at 1PM at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS with Bro. Mike Morris officiating. A burial will follow in the New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery McCall Creek, MS.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
