Ione Lang Welch, 85, of McComb, passed away, Monday, July 10, 2017 at her residence. She was born November 18, 1931 in Pike County. She was the daughter of Edward C. and Jessie C. Lang. Mrs. Welch worked for a number of years at Kellwood Company and later became a nursing assistant having worked at SWRMC, Southwest Extended Care, McComb Extended Care and later private duty nursing. Mrs. Welch was a loving, hardworking wife, mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.R. Welch; four brothers, Charles Albert "Abe" Lang, Alford Aubrey "Pete" Lang, Joel "Joe" Lang and William Gordon "Tom" Lang; three sisters, Mildred Lang, Ruth Helen "Blackie" Rhodus and Nellie Louise Morgan and one great-granddaughter, Leanna. She is survived by two sons, Eddie Welch and wife, Nancy of Summit and George Welch and special friend, Luanne Thornton of McComb; two daughters, Lanelle Welch of McComb and Deborah W. Johnson of Magnolia; one brother, Aaron "Poppy" Lang of Magnolia; seven grandchildren, Tashia, Jessica and husband, Ellis, Jeremy and wife, Anna, Cody, Dakota and wife, Michelle, Flint and Amanda; seven great-grandchildren, Zoe, Shania, Elijah, Montana, Paige, Kaci and Jacob and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is 6PM until 8PM Thursday at East Union Baptist Church, 4182 Union Church Road, Magnolia, MS 39652 and Friday from 5PM until services at 6PM with Bro. Brandon Lynch officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit.
