Mr. Hughey Greer, 81, passed from this life on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 1, 1941 in Walthall County, MS, to Kermit Greer and Ora Thornhill Greer.

He was a member of Enon Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and helped with their disaster relief ministry as long as he was able to. He loved to farm and spending time in the outdoors. He was an avid gardener and fisherman. Some would remember him for his time at the Enterprise Journal, East McComb Body Shop, and other various business interests. He was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather. The grandchildren were his delight.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his step-mom, Inez Aughtman; his first wife, Lou Greer; one brother-in-law, David Edgar Boyd; one sister-in-law, Sue Alexander; and one great-grandchild, Bailey.

Survivors are his wife of 44 years, Lavoyce Alexander Greer; one sister, Betty Boyd; two daughters, Cheryl Pigott (Randall Pigott) and Tamara Fowler (Richard); one son, Randy Greer (Robbey) ; eight grandchildren;  seven great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers are Mickey Boyd, Willie Earl Greer, Randall Pigott, Richard Fowler, Mike Alexander, and Kenny Alexander

Honorary pallbearers are Joel Anderson, Vernon Alexander, Robert Hughes, and Wade Greer.

A visitation will be held Friday, March 4, 2022, from 10:00 AM until time of service at 12:00 at Enon Baptist Church in Jayess, MS. A burial will follow immediately at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Hedden officiating and Sharkey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
