Houston G. Ivey, 81, passed away at his home on October 30, 2017. He was the husband of Becky Sue Ivey, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Houston was born in Clarke County, Mississippi, on February 5, 1936. He married Becky Sue in June of 1957 and a year later moved to New Orleans, LA. In 1973 they moved to Magnolia, MS with their two children. He retired from the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad after 31 years of employment. Houston was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1953. He was a well-known and respected figure within the community. He loved sharing his knowledge of the Bible with others. He was always sharing stories with his family and friends. Houston was also a handyman, fixing many things for his friends and neighbors. He played tuba in high school and later enjoyed playing guitar and singing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Thomas Ivey and Addie Evarilla Taylor Ivey; two sisters; three brothers; a son, Wesley E. Ivey and a grandson, Dennis Houston Rushing. He is survived by his wife Becky Sue; one daughter, Devon Ivey Rushing and husband, Steven; grandchildren: John Ivey and wife, Jessica, and their son, Liam; Jessica French and husband, William; James Ivey and wife, Kelley, and their children Landon, Lucas, Kobee and Zoey, and Kimberly Rushing Dumas and her daughters, Lillian and Lucy.
