Obituary

Harris L. McKenney, 65, of McComb, went to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday, September 4, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 19, 1951 in McComb, MS. He was the son of Gilbert James and Vescie Brown McKenney. He was retired with 25 years of service with MDOT. He fought a long and courageous fight with cancer with the help of the Lord. He was an inspiration to everyone that knew him and was blessed to have had wonderful medical care from encouraging doctors and nurses. His family said he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews that he loved very dearly. He loved the outdoors and spending time with animals. He was a self -taught artist. He was a member of South McComb Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his father; three brothers, Mike, Philip and Lennox McKenney; his paternal grandparents, Harrison and Annie McCarty McKenney; his maternal grandparents,Edward Luther and Delia Prestridge Brown and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman Price and Mary Price. He is survived by his mother, Vescie Brown McKenney of McComb; his wife of 39 years, Donna Price McKenney of McComb; one brother, James McKenney of Farmville, VA; three sisters, Corliss Morgan of McComb, Dee Dee Hartzog of Flippin, AR and Joyce Layton of Brandon; sisters-in-law, Hannah Causey and husband, David of Summit and Edna Andrews and husband, Jimmy of Greensburg, LA; brothers-in-law, Herman Price and wife, Audrey of McComb and Emanuel Price of Fernwood; nieces and nephews, Patricia Morgan Milton of Kentwood, Eva Morgan Bass and Dawn Devine LeBlanc of McComb and Elizabeth McKenney McInnes of Costa Mesa, CA; Scott Layton, Tracy and Ray Brumfield, Mary and Jason Matherson, Amanda Sellers, Cole and Kimberly Causey, Herman Price, Jr. , Jason Price and Junior Price; great-nieces and nephews, Madison LeBlanc, McKenna LeBlanc, Emmaleigh Bass of McComb and Catherine Milton of Kentwood, Danielle Brumfield, Jessica Brumfield, Taylor Sellers, Matthew Sellers and great nephews, Thomas Morgan Milton of Kentwood; a great-great-nephew, Cameron Chaney; special friends, Sue Whittington, Charlotte Zeigler and Dale and Susan Wood. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. David Millican, Bro. Evan Akins and Bro. Philip Alford for their visits and prayers. Also a special thanks to Dr. Larry Aycock, Dr. William Dixon, Dr. Simon Cofranscesco, Dr. Will Austin, Dr. Bernard Jaffee, Dr. Issam Eid, Dr. Dan Boone, the staff of St. Luke Hospice including special nurses, Britney Meyers, Tiffany Slipher and Michele McGuffee who loved him like family. Visitation is Thursday at South McComb Baptist Church from 5PM until 8PM and Friday from 12noon until services at 2PM with Dr. David Millican, Rev. Evan Akins and Bro. Philip Alford officiating. Burial will be in Navilla cemetery under the direction of Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit.
