Mrs. Georgia Genoa Freeman Boyd, 86, of Enon Community, passed from this life on September 3, 2024 at Camelia Estates in McComb, MS. She was born on January 5, 1938 to Mr. William "Bill" Freeman and Mrs. Genoa Matthews Freeman.
She was an avid bluegrass music lover, loved camping in her motor home, and loved attending Enon Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years and fellowshipped with her friends. She was a longtime correspondent for the Tylertown Times newspaper, writing the "Enon News". She had a special ministry for homeless people where she would crochet mats out of used plastic Wal Mart bags.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry "Buddy" Boyd; sisters, Helen Chisolm, Rosa Sholter; brothers, Joe Freeman, Johnnie Freeman and
In-laws, Porter and Emma Boyd.
She is survived by daughters, Rhonda Boyd, Retha Hale; son, Randy Boyd; son-in law, Danny Hale; granddaughter, Megan Hale; very special great nieces, Debra Lee and Lynn McEwen; special niece, Rose Wilkinson and special chosen granddaughter, Morgan May along with many family and friends.
A very special thank you goes to caregivers from Hospice Compassus and the staff and residents at Camelia Estates.
Pallbearers are Jay Bain, Jerry Boyd, Terry Boyd, John Freeman, Calvin McEwen and Allen Pope.
Honorary pallbearers are Danny Hale, Loyd Holloway, Deb Ainsworth, Tommy Freeman, Alec Alexander and Joe Pope.
Funeral services for Mrs. Boyd will be on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Enon Baptist Church in Walthall County, MS at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be at Enon Baptist Church on Friday, September 6, 2024 from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM. Burial will be in Enon Cemetery. Bro. Philip Alford and Bro. David Hedden will officiate the services with Sharkey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The family requests memorials be made in her name to: youth or cemetery fund at Enon Baptist Church.
