George Miller Brashear, Jr., 88 of Summit, MS passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb,

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Hollywood Cemetery. Catchings-Sharkey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

George was born Thursday, May 7, 1936 in McComb, Mississippi to George Miller Brashear Sr. and Nolene Brady Brashear. He was the first of three children. Duty called early in his life, as he served his country with distinction in the Army Intelligence Corps during the Korean War. Upon his return, he pursued his intellectual curiosity with fervor, embarking on a journey of higher education in engineering. George met his beloved wife, Bobbie Pezant Brashear, in the 6th grade with whom he shared a lifetime of love and adventure.

George's life was a testament to his insatiable curiosity and unwavering drive. He possessed a deep fascination for the world around him, whether it was the intricate workings of nuclear power plants, the graceful motion of sailboats, or the delicate beauty of butterflies he meticulously collected and catalogued. He approached every endeavor with a spirit of exploration and a thirst for knowledge.

Throughout his life, George demonstrated a profound understanding that the true measure of success lay in the connections he forged with others. His infectious laugh, booming baritone voice, and warm, attentive smile created a welcoming presence that made everyone feel valued and appreciated. He possessed a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life, and his genuine kindness and compassion earned him the respect and affection of all who knew him.

After a fulfilling career, George retired to Indianapolis before returning to his beloved "Down Home" in Summit, Mississippi.

George Miller Brashear Jr. will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Miller Brashear, Sr.; mother, Nolene Brady Brashear; son, George Brashear III; sister, Ann (Sug) Brashear Miller.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Pezant Brashear of Summit, MS; son, Erik Brashear of New Orleans; brother, David Brashear of Mandeville, LA; sister, Sarah Brashear of Rome, Georgia; and a host of cousins, extended family and close friends.
