Mr. Gaylon Earl Cutrer, 80, of Kentwood, LA, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at his residence. He was born on October 11, 1938, in Kentwood, LA, to Marshall T. and Ruth McGregor Cutrer. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Kentwood; served his country in the US Army; worked for many years as the owner of Cutrer's Slaughter House; was a school bus driver for Tangipahoa Parish School System for 25 years; and enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery and primitive survival skills, finding arrow heads, and spending time with his family. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Grady Cutrer (Sr.), Percy Cutrer, Amos Cutrer, Douglas Cutrer and Frank Cutrer; and infant brother, Raymond L. Cutrer.
Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Ruth Myers Cutrer; sons, Ernest Earl "Joe" Cutrer (Lisa), Raymond Reid Cutrer (Brandy), and Kevin Kyle Cutrer (Cris); daughter, Sareptha Ellen "Cissy" Cutrer; grandchildren, Shane Joseph Cutrer (Shelby), Rafe Galen Cutrer, Remi Kathryne Cutrer, Reese Nicole Cutrer, Ramsi Shaye Cutrer, Kevin Patrick Pinell, Lindsay Nicole Pinell, and Christopher Andrew Pinell (Baleigh); great-grandchildren, Kevon Pinell and Kaleb Pinell; nephews, Donald Ray Cutrer, Grady Cutrer, Jr. (Cheri), and Marshall Cutrer (Georgette); niece, Debbie Cutrer (Ricky); and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Kentwood in Kentwood, LA, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:30 AM with burial to follow in the Spring Creek Cemetery. Rev. Darryl Miller and Rev. Bill Boulton will be officiating the services with Catchings-Sharkey Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers are Grady Cutrer Jr., Marshall Cutrer, Shane Cutrer, Christopher Pinell, Russ Tolar, and Tom Tolar. Honorary pallbearer is Rafe Galen Cutrer.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of St. Tammany Parish Hospice.
