Everett W. Boyd, 93, of McComb, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2018 at his residence.Everett was born August 13, 1924 in Pricedale, Mississippi. He was the son of Helen Daniels Boyd and Ellis Wood Boyd.He was a proud WWII Veteran having served in the United States Navy Air Corps in the South Pacific as a gunner on a Navy PBM Amphibian.After his retirement of many years in the printing business he enjoyed various hobbies including wood working and building and flying model air planes. One of his favorite pastimes was traveling to airshows to see the Blue Angels perform.His love of country music was known by all. He spent many years singing and playing bass guitar with various local bands and was always a crowd favorite at the weekly Mississippi Hayride where he seldom missed a performance and was there until the day it closed. He genuinely loved and appreciated his country music buddies and we would like to give special thanks to each and every one of them for their love and support with their many visits and phone calls. We offer our heartfelt gratitude and a special thank you to his cousin, Willie Daniels, for his steadfast and loving companionship for many years. His visits reminiscing about family and old times were a true blessing and always the highlight of the day.He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and was always there for family. Many years were spent at the ball fields cheering on his son and grandchildren.He was a longtime member of the McComb Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served his church faithfully throughout the years.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Doris Jean Wells Boyd; his parents, Helen Daniels Boyd and Ellis Wood Boyd; his son, Gary Everett Boyd; a grandson, Everett Felder Boyd; and one brother, William Emory Boyd.
He is survived by his two daughters and sons in law, Sherrie and Sam Miceli of Covington, Louisiana and Judy and Gene Spiers of McComb; one brother, Daniel E. Boyd of Escatawba,Ms.; eight grandchildren, Justin (Carrie) Boyd, Jeromy (Rachel) Spiers, Ashley (Andre) Davis, Lesley (Curt) Dykes, Chaney (Megan) Spiers, Kevin Boyd, Wendy Spence and Hayley Spiers; three nieces, Sandra Boyd McNally, Sheila Boyd Smith and Sharlene Boyd; one brother in law, Donald R. Wells; six sisters in law, Bobbie Wells, Peggy June Parsons, Willene Thompson, Elois Wells, Donnis (Larry) Temple and Peggie Sue Ratcliff; thirteen great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and special friends.
Pallbearers will be Justin Boyd, Kevin Boyd, Jeromy Spiers, Chaney Spiers, Andre Davis and Curt Dykes. Honorary Pallbearers are Pete Wells and Ethan Spence, Willie Daniels and Harold Daniels.
Visitation will be held at Sharkey Funeral Home, 1023 Old Brookhaven Rd., Summit, MS, 39666, Friday, April 20, 2018 from 1PM until services at 3PM. Burial will take place at Hollywood Cemetery.The family would like to say a special thank you to his longtime caregiver and dear friend, Deloise Graham, for her many years of loving care and devotion to both Everett and Doris Boyd. We would also like to thank Deaconess Hospice and Deaconess Home Health for the excellent care given to Mr. Everett.
