Eugene C. "Pete" Hamilton, 83, of Magnolia, passed away at his home, Thursday, October 26, 2017. He was born November 21, 1933 in Amite County to the late J.E. Hamilton and Lucy Ravencraft Smith. Mr. Hamilton was a Korean War veteran of the United States Air Force serving 10 years, including one year in Iceland and received the Good Conduct Medal. He worked as a radar instructor and technician at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi. Pete was a well-known mechanic who had a kind, generous heart. He enjoyed working on vehicles, helping others and spending time with his family. He would pay it forward and never wanted anything in return. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Derwin Hamilton; brothers, Claude Hamilton, Terry Hamilton and Willis Hamilton and sisters, Marie King, Effie Bradley. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lelia Hamilton of Magnolia; sons, Gerry Hamilton and wife, Gloria of Summit and Darian Hamilton of Magnolia; daughters, Sonia Fair and husband, Terry of Magnolia and Joni Mitchell and husband, Greg of Magnolia and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation is Sunday at Sharkey Funeral Home, 1023 Old Brookhaven Road, Summit, MS 39666 from 12noon until services at 2PM with Bro. Demond Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jimbo Vielee, Jeffery Vielee, Dallas Fair, Thomas Kleppinger, Nicholas Kleppinger and Matthew Kleppinger.
