Ernestine Johnson Williams, 79, of Katy, Texas, died Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at the home of her daughter, Lynn. Mrs. Williams was born in Liberty, Mississippi, to Ed and Effie Johnson. She was raised and educated in Liberty, MS, and lived most of her life in McComb, MS. She lived in Moss Bluff, LA for 14 years with her husband of 53 years, Joseph "Clyde" Williams, Sr., until moving to Katy, TX three years ago. Mrs. Williams was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked retail, and loved working with people, but her passion was taking care of her family. During her younger years, she sang on the gospel radio in Liberty, MS. She loved playing the piano and guitar and singing in church and reading her bible. She was very loving and kind and would take in anyone that needed a home. She loved taking care of people and volunteering at her church. Several of her favorite things to do was playing around with her grandchildren and horseback riding. She is a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Her smile will truly be missed by all those who knew her. She leaves to honor her memory four daughters, Barbara Marble of Lake Charles, LA, Wanda Ann McCoy and husband, Wendell of Rosetta, MS, Shirley Strickland of Summit, MS, and Lynn Terrell and husband Jim of Katy, TX; one son, Joseph Clyde "Joe" Williams, Jr. and wife, Rose of Moss Bluff, LA; 13 grandchildren, Dakota and Jason Smith, Jennifer Jacks, Walt and Nicole McCoy, Keith and Chad Strickland, Lisa Wells, Eric and Amy Terrell, Christa, Dylan, and Padyn Williams; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, William H. Johnson of Magnolia, MS and Edgar "Ed" Johnson of Albany, LA and one sister, Beatrice Gray of Texarkana, TX. She leaves behind a large extended family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, and one brother. Visitation will be Friday, December 15, 2017, at Sharkey Funeral Home, 1023 Old Brookhaven Rd., Summit, MS, 39666, from 6PM until 9PM, and continue on Saturday, December 16, 2017, from 12PM until services at 1PM.
