Obituary

Elmo H. Busby, 87, of Summit, passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 at his residence. He was born August 14, 1930 in Pike County MS to Joe E. and Edna Crawford Busby. He retired as plant manager in the aluminum manufacturing business and worked for a number of years at Croft Metals as well as at Better Bilt in Tennessee and Arizona. "Mo" as most people knew him, remained very active after retirement. He was an active member of his beloved Felder United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee and he was a member and officer of the Felder Campground Association. He and his late wife Sue loved to travel and served as national park campground hosts at Arches, Joshua Tree, and Great Smoky Mountain National Parks. They made friends wherever they went. They traveled the United States in their RV and also enjoyed Caribbean cruises. "Mo" loved the outdoors, especially hiking in the national parks and working in his vegetable and flower gardens. He spent a lot of time observing wildlife and enjoying his farm. You could sometimes find him and his wife Sue at arts and crafts shows where they sold baskets and wood carvings. In later years, he enjoyed watching college football and continued to be an avid reader. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Margaret Dunaway Busby and Sue Miller Busby; his son Elmo "Brother" Busby, Jr. and a half-sister Velma Alberson. He is survived by his daughter Sharon Busby, PhD and her husband Stephen Colton of Seattle, WA; his "other daughter" Debbie Wilson and husband Cassels and their family of Lake Dixie Springs; and also his caring and loving neighbor, who was like a son, Paul Nunnery and family of Summit. Visitation is Sunday at Sharkey Funeral Home, 1023 Old Brookhaven Road, Summit, MS 39666 from 1:30PM until 4:30PM. Visitation continues Monday at Felder United Methodist Church, 1014 Campground Road, Summit, MS 39666 from 10AM until services at 11AM with Rev. Michael Evans and Rev. Glenn Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Felder's cemetery. Pallbearers are Todd Wilson, Nic Wilson, Paul Nunnery, John Paul Nunnery, Mac McEwen and Harold Hall. Honorary pallbearers are George Huffman, Alfred Felder, Gene Van Norman and Bill Felder. Memorials may be sent to Felder United Methodist Church, 1014 Campground Drive, Summit, MS 39666.
