Elizabeth "Libby" Henderson passed away on June 22nd, 2025 at her residence in Chatawa, MS with her family by her bedside.  She was born on November 8th, 1951 in Opelousas, Louisiana to Harvey and Bessie Brinkman of Pitreville, LA.

Ms. Libby, "Granny Belle," enjoyed hiking, canoeing, camping, family, caring for children, and all things Christmas.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and educator who will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Opelousas, and worked as a special education teacher in the McComb, MS and St. Landry Parish, LA school districts.  She was the long- time owner and operator of Hug-a-Bug Day Care in McComb.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, John Henderson, her parents, Harvey and Bessie Brinkman, sister Francis Kimball, and grandson Thomas Samuel Asa Henderson.

She is survived by her son Zach Henderson, daughter-in-law Allison Henderson, sisters Lynn Bates and Jean Scott, and a host of family and friends.

The family expresses deep appreciation for everyone who has provided aid and comfort through the last year.  This includes numerous family members, friends, doctors, and nurses who have been involved with Ms. Libby's care.  Special mentions include Wiley Williamson, sitters Emily Rossie and Judy Gibson, also the staff of Compassus Hospice agency:  Teresa Rand RN, Aretha Reece LPN, Alicia Legget RN, nursing aid Brenda Hill, social worker Shannon Landen, and Brother David Watson.  Thank you all for going the extra mile.

A memorial service will be held at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS on Saturday July 12, 2025 at 2 PM, officiated by Pastor Ricky Lee.  Visitation will be held the same day at Sharkey Funeral home from 12 PM to 2 PM.
