Ms. Edith Marie Holmes, 74, of Chatawa, Mississippi, passed from this life on Monday, December 8, 2025. She was born in Burnsville, Mississippi, on April 2, 1951, to Charles Henderson Hale and Joyce Parsons Hale.

Marie loved her family – especially her grandchildren and her "pups;" she was a homemaker, and enjoyed hobbies and crafts such as embroidery, crocheting, drawing, and coloring. She also enjoyed small group Bible study.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Virginia Dale Hale and Faith Elizabeth Henderson.

She is survived by her children, Charles Holmes, Jr. (Denise), Angelia Vielee (Jimmy), and Wayne Holmes; five grandchildren, Cory Holmes, Chayton Holmes, Gage Vielee, Mallori Vielee Bass (Jacob), and Ashleigh Vielee; and one great-grandson, Jace Hansel Bass. She also leaves behind two brothers, Jimmy Hale (Linda) and Danny Hale; and two sisters, Judy Pepper (Terry) and Debbie White (Brian).

Memorial services for Ms. Holmes will be on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit, MS, with an hour of visitation from 5:00 PM until services at 6:00 PM.
